Class Actions

When a company breaks the law in a way that affects many people, a class action can be the most powerful way to hold it accountable. Instead of forcing each person to fight alone, a class action allows individuals with similar claims to seek relief in one case.

Ravindran Law Firm PLLC represents clients in class action and group cases—especially where unlawful practices are widespread, repeated, and driven by a company-wide policies, practices, or systems.

What Is a Class Action?

A class action is a lawsuit brought on behalf of a group of people who were harmed in a similar way by the same company or practice. Often, the harm to each person is relatively small—but the total impact is large.

Class actions can help:

  • Stop unlawful conduct

  • Recover money (refunds, unpaid wages, statutory damages, or other compensation)

  • Change business practices through court orders or settlements

How Class Actions Work

  1. Investigation: We review what happened, whether it’s happening to others, and what laws apply.

  2. Filing: We file a lawsuit describing the practice and the harm.

  3. Class Certification (if appropriate): The court decides whether the case can proceed as a class action.

  4. Discovery & Litigation: We obtain evidence—policies, records, technical materials, or data.

  5. Resolution: Many cases resolve through settlement; some go to trial. If there is a recovery, eligible class members may be able to submit claims.

Employment Class Actions

Workplace violations often affect entire teams—not just one person. We pursue class and collective cases involving, including but not limited to:

  • Unpaid overtime and minimum wage violations

  • Off-the-clock work (before/after shifts, during breaks, or “on call” time)

  • Misclassification (treating workers as independent contractors or “exempt” employees when they should be paid overtime)

  • Meal and rest break violations (where applicable)

  • Unlawful deductions, tip violations, and uniform/tool expenses

If you suspect your employer’s pay practices are happening across a department, location, or company-wide policy, you may not be alone.

Consumer Protection Class Actions

Consumers are often harmed by business practices that are repeated thousands of times. Examples include:

  • Hidden fees / “junk fees” / drip pricing (fees revealed late in checkout for tickets, travel, services, memberships, delivery, or other purchases)

  • Deceptive “sale” pricing or fake discounts (inflated “original” prices, misleading reference pricing, or “limited-time” pricing tactics)

  • Subscription and automatic renewal traps (hard-to-cancel memberships, unclear renewal terms, or barriers to cancellation)

  • Misleading product or service representations (advertising that omits important limits, restrictions, or costs)

  • Unfair or unlawful billing practices (improper add-ons, unauthorized charges, or misrepresented fees)

If you felt pressured, misled, or surprised by the real price only at the end—your experience may be part of a broader pattern.

Privacy Class Actions

Data privacy violations can impact thousands—or millions—of people at once. We pursue cases involving, including but not limited to:

  • Data breaches and failures to safeguard personal information

  • Unauthorized tracking technologies (pixels, trackers, or similar tools used on websites and forms)

  • Session replay / web “wiretapping” allegations (tools that capture user interactions or communications without proper consent)

  • Biometric privacy violations (fingerprints, face scans, voiceprints, or other biometric identifiers collected or used unlawfully)

  • Unlawful recording or interception issues (where state or federal law requires consent)

Privacy cases often turn on what was collected, how it was shared, and what disclosures or consent were provided (or not provided).
